How Is Used Aluminium Reprocessed?

Aluminium is usually derived from a mineral that is found in the ground called bauxite. It is rather costly to mine, and there is usually a large environmental impact that is associated with extracting it from the ground, as well. Therefore, strenuous efforts are made in most parts of the Western world to recycle as much aluminium as possible. In fact, it takes much less energy – around 5 per cent - to reprocess old aluminium into new products than it does to make them from newly mined bauxite.
